1. Hoglands

1. Hoglands

Overall Rating 4/10
Sketchiness Rating 7/10

Love it or hate it Hoglands is Southamptons most central skatepark, one singular metal construction comprising of a three ft mini, a four ft spined mini and a six ft mini, also a flat bank, driveway with shotgun rail, and coping edged ledge.

Hoglands gets pretty dirty being that it is one single construction, and kids getting mugged for phones/bags isn't unheard of so you need to keep your wits about you, although it does seem to have calmed down in recent years.

2. Riverside

2. Riverside

Overall Rating 5/10
Sketchiness Rating 2/10

For its size Riverside is pretty fun, it only has a Driveway, Elbowed quarter (4ft), two big quarters (6ft), a tiny jump box (2ft) and a small rail and ledge, but the tiny quarter on the jump box is fun to learn on, and the ledge, flatground and quarter after are good for practising street lines.

3. Shirley Warren

3. Shirley Warren

Overall Rating: 4/10
Sketchiness Rating: 6/10

The Wozza has a fair few obstacles, Jump Box, Driveway, Mini Ramp, Quarter to Flat Bank but doesn't seem to be used excessively and just seems to have a few locals, Lines aren't very flowing and most obstacles just have one hit and off. You may be better off hitting up Shirley Warren school which has possibly the smallest street handrail ever!

4. Totton - Bartley Park

4. Totton - Bartley Park

Overall Rating: 4/10
Sketchiness Rating: 2/10

Totton certainly sounds better than it is, there is loads to skate here, but the park is made from fibreglass and flexes quite severely so pop on the ramps is pretty non existent, having said that the Girder, Ledge and Rail can be great fun for street style lines.

Totton has: Roll in, Two quarters, steep Flatbank, Pyramid with Quartered hip and ledges, Jump Box, Mini Ramp, Vert ramp?!, Girder, Rail and Ledge, Two small quarters/jumpramps.

It is one of very few places (The only place in the South) with a free to skate vert ramp, but its only ten foot high and very thin so you can only really scratch a grind on it. The park is floodlit however so gets some use in the winter months.

5. Merryoak

5. Merryoak

Overall Rating: 6.5/10
Sketchiness Rating: 5/10

Merryoak has a fair bit to skate but is also pretty badly designed and you can't really get very good lines. There is a mini ramp with Sub Box, Wide Flat bank with Small Quarter on the deck, Jump box, Smaller jump box, Driveway, Mellow Flat Banked Hips, Elbowed quarter(6ft) two Quarters with Bank to Wallride between.

Considering it is a smaller borough of Southampton Merryoak is pretty large and worth a visit.

6. North Baddesley

6. North Baddesley

Overall Rating 3/10
Sketchiness Rating 1/10

A small skatepark in a nice area of Southampton, there is a Mini Ramp, Driveway, Quarter, and Rail so pretty much as basic as you can get, worth checking out if you are nearby and is nice in the summer due to the complete lack of hassle.

7. Eastliegh/Chandlers Ford Bowl

7. Eastliegh/ Chandlers Ford bowl

Overall Rating (bowl): 8/10 (park) 1/10
Sketchiness Rating: 2/10

There is a large skatepark here which has Flat Banks, Grind Blocks, Spine, Mini Ramp, Rail, but its also on really rough floor so is virtually unskated! However a bowl got added to the park and its really good! Home to comps and demos from travelling teams and weekly sessions from the locals, as well as being floodlit, Eastliegh Bowl is one of the Highlights of Southampton Skateboarding.

9. Woodhouse

9. Woodhouse

Overall Rating 2/10
Sketchiness Rating 2/10

Currently there is a pretty bad skatepark with your standard Driveway/Quarter thing going on, but with three Roll Ins at one end?!
However plans are in action for an all new concrete park to be finished by the end of the summer! Woodhouse has a strong scene of local skaters.

10. Marchwood

10. Marchwood

Overall Rating 2/10
Sketchiness Rating 1/10

A badly designed park which has a Spined mini which is too whippy, a rather strange driveway that looks like a 12 year olds imaginings, another whippy Quarter, a decent manual block and a square flat bar.

If you are in Marchwood, with a skateboard, or you enjoy skating blocks/flat bars, then worth checking out, otherwise don't bother.

11. Hythe

11. Hythe

Overall Rating 2/10
Sketchiness Rating 3/10

Hythe used to have a semi decent park, but they got rid of that and put in something awful instead, it has a Mini Ramp, Whippy Flat Bank, Driveway with a really low ledge, Small Jump Box with some pointless stairs attached, and another few Quarters.

12. Gang Warily

12. Gang Warily

Overall Rating 7/10
Sketchiness Rating 3/10

The smallest of all the skateparks but also one of the most fun! Gangers is Concrete, very smooth concrete! It takes some skaters a while to get used to how slippy it is but it also just slides when you fall, the design is very skateboard specific and has a Mini Ramp with Escalated Quarter, Small bank with a round single rail, Pier 7 Manual block with raised ledge, Curved slightly downhill ledge. They are trying to raise funds for a Taco Quarter at the back of the park which would really open up the lines and make Gangers one of the best little parks in the area for skateboarding.

13. Romsey

13. Romsey

Overall Rating 7/10
sketchiness Rating 2/10

One of the best parks in the area in terms of different things to skate, There is a Mini with Extension, jump Box, Flat Bank with Hubbas, Flat Rail, Manny Pad with Bank, Flatbank Wallride, Quarter to Wallride/Bank, Quarters, House Driveway, Driveway with Ledges, Flat Ledges with Step Up and Gap. Well worth checking out, Lines aren't as easy as they could be and the driveways are hard to keep your speed on but the Jump Box to Wallride is pretty fun, and decent ledges in a park is good!
